Why Wait, It’s Time to Give Yourself Some Love!

When we love someone with a mental health and/or substance use disorder, we must give ourselves permission to make time for self-care and reflection.

Loving and caring for our families can bring joy but it can also be overwhelming. Becoming overwhelmed happens quicker, and quite easily, when we love and care for someone who has a mental health and/or substance use disorder.

We cannot change behaviors of those we love, but we can change ourselves. So why wait to start this change? We have the power to stop delaying and resisting making our own behavior, spiritual, physical, and mental changes. But using this power can also be scary. Focusing on ourselves can feel like one more thing to do, or a daunting task that may take up more precious time. But we can work together to use this time and make small, positive actions towards your goals and overall well-being.

In a world inundated with trends and fads, the concept of self-care has emerged as both a beacon of hope and a marketing buzzword! But the trick is deciding what self-care and self-love mean to you and to honor your unique needs and preferences. So stop waiting, and make time to give yourself some love.

So what can coaching provide for you?

You have a safe and confidential space, free from judgment, to discuss what you choose during the session.

You have dedicated time to identify and explore what is important to you and what your goals and aspirations are.

You have a partner to help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to go. You can focus on things like personal goals, behavior and habit changes, boundaries, and other areas of interest.

You have someone advocating and understanding you, asking you questions to help you find or create solutions.

So, now that you’ve already taken one step to read this article, I hope you stop waiting and take the next step and give yourself the love you deserve.

Sincerely,

Adina
